Acquisition of a CNR Wood Caboose - Part 1

Over the past couple of years, it was brought to our attention that a CNR caboose, which had been used as living quarters at  a garden centre in Woodbridge, Ontario would become available as the property was redeveloped.  The images below, taken over the past couple of years, show the caboose on the now empty property.

Our inspection of the caboose suggested that it was in good condition and did still sit on original leaf spring trucks.  The sides of the caboose has been clad in an outer skin after it retired and a second roof had been installed and shingled to protect the caboose.  The original interior of course had been gutted for use at the garden centre.

The TRHA decided to pursue acquisition of the caboose as we saw the opportunity to restore the exterior and then use the interior space to support our museum operations.
