Historic Images: CN 6060 in steam!
We have featured historic photos by Dave Howard of the Canadian Railway Historical Association's Niagara Division before in our TRHA News Posts (click here to see them). Here is another contribution from the end of the steam era when the railways still ran a special steam excursions for railfans. Here re Dave's comments:
"During the mid
1970's, CN steam locomotive 6060 ran summer excursion service from Toronto to
the Niagara Peninsula and back. Fellow railfan and film shooter Arnold Mooney has an interesting
picture and excellent caption on the railpictures.ca website. Cllick here to read all about them. Here are a few of my photographs from that era:

West August 1976: CN excursion 6060 heads Eastbound in
the morning towards the Niagara Peninsula under Hamilton's Emerald Street
Footbridge. The vintage footbridge has a web page of its own, click here to check it out. Note all that's
now gone in this scene, from the Steel Company of Canada plant in the upper
left, railway pole line, and South and North railway service tracks on each
side of the mainlines to service heavily industrialized Hamilton.

East August 1976: Looking Eastward, some fans are
occupying the open doors of the baggage coach for the full steam experience.
The small yard on the left (North side) is just being removed, a visit to the
footbridge currently is much different. All that remains is the two mainline
tracks.
