CARM (Toronto) Visits Roundhouse Park!

The Canadian Association of Railway Modellers (CARM) is a national organization of railway modellers with chapters throughout the country. On Saturday March 10, 2012, the TRHA played host to the Toronto CARM Chapter. We took the opportunity to give them an extensive tour of Roundhouse Park. The weather was sunny and the wind was cold but everyone braved the temperature and a comprehensive tour took place including the restoration stalls, TH&B Van#70, CN6213, CN4803, Don Station, Cabin D and the U33 Train Simulator. The overall Roundhouse Park tour was led Derek Boles, our TRHA historian, with many of our volunteers participating as individual attractions were visited.

The miniature train volunteers also had two trains running rides for the CARM visitors and with the sunshine out many other people visiting the park were also given rides. It was a good afternoon with many questions, good photo opportunities, and it gave us a chance to show CARM what we are doing as well as prepare lists of things to do for our spring opening. It was a pleasure to have the Toronto Chapter of CARM visit and we hope they come back with family and friends (when the weather is a little warmer!) and maybe even consider joining us like our CARM member Dave Fleming does.

A special thank you to William Waithe, President of the Toronto Chapter of CARM for coordinating this with us and also to all the TRHA volunteers who came out to run the trains, the simulator, the guided tours, open the doors and gates, and help us show our CARM visitors around.
